Fatalities and Injuries Reported in Hornbrook Head-On Collision on Copco Road
A Hornbrook head-on collision on December 29 cost the lives of three people and injured four children with trauma ranging from major to minor. The accident occurred on Copco Road near Salmon Street around 12:24 p.m. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that it appeared the male driver of a Dodge Ram 1500 was going west along the road when a Chrysler Pacifica driver was coming from the other direction.
Hornbrook Head-On Collision Occurs When Pickup Crosses Centerline
When the pickup negotiated a roadway curve, it reportedly drifted into the eastbound lanes and crashed with the Chrysler. The pickup driver died in the accident. The Chrysler driver and a front-seat passenger also died.
Four Minors Transported to Hospital Following Tragic Accident
The minors were taken to Fairchild Medical Center in Yreka for treatment and evaluation following the Hornbrook head-on collision. The Siskiyou County Coroner’s Office is releasing the names of the deceased after the families have been notified. An examination of the cause of the accident is underway by CHP traffic crash investigators.
