Common Injuries in a Car Collision
A car collision can occur in a matter of seconds. It can turn the lives of those involved upside down, especially when serious injuries are sustained. Some of the common injuries suffered in a crash include cervical sprain, internal trauma, bone fractures, spinal cord damage, facial scarring, and more.
Treatment for Car Accident Injuries
Receiving medical treatment after a car accident is crucial. It can help get your life back to normal. When you visit your primary provider, it is essential to explain all of the symptoms or pain you are experiencing. This will ensure you receive the best treatment possible for your injuries. Be sure to ask your doctor if you have any restrictions or can return to work. Moreover, continue rehabilitating if your symptoms persist. Gaps in treatment or missed medical appointments may give insurance companies the false impression that you have recovered from your injury, which can affect the outcome of your personal injury case.
Determining Fault in a Car Accident
Negligence is one of the most crucial elements in any claim for personal injury. The person whose negligent actions caused the accident is generally liable for personal injury damages incurred. Proving negligence is usually done by providing a traffic collision report that shows liability was assigned to the other party, eyewitness statements, video surveillance of the car wreck, skid marks, and other physical evidence of what occurred in the collision. Having this evidence is necessary, and without it, insurance companies may reduce the value of a settlement offer or deny a claim altogether. For these reasons and others, it is essential to contact an experienced Stockton personal injury attorney to discuss what options you may have for a favorable recovery.
Recovering Damages After a Car Crash
When a person is injured in a car crash, he or she is likely to incur expenses related to the incident. An injured person may be entitled to seek compensatory damages to help pay for those expenses. These are intended to make an injured person whole again and place him or her back in the same position he or she was in before the crash happened. There are two types, economic and noneconomic damages. Economic damages refer to out of pocket expenses incurred while noneconomic damages are awarded for the intangible harms suffered by an injured person. The value of these damages varies from case to case. To learn which factors may affect the value of an injury claim, watch the below video.
How a Lawyer Can Help
Those injured in car accidents are often left to fend for themselves. This is where the assistance of an experienced injury lawyer can help. A skilled attorney can help an injured person and their family by claiming damages related to their injuries, review the circumstances of the crash to ensure no detail has been missed, and take a case to trial if necessary. This way, the attorney can secure fair compensation on the injured individual’s behalf.
