Injuries Suffered During Vallejo Big-Rig Crash
At least one person sustained serious injuries during a Vallejo big-rig crash on Friday, February 19, 2021. Police report that the accident happened in the morning and involved a big-rig as well as at least one other vehicle. The number of injured parties has not yet been reported and the cause of this incident is under an active California Highway Patrol (CHP) investigation.
Crash Details
The incident occurred at around 8:42 a.m. on Highway Interstate 80 near the Tennessee Street exit on the northeastern side of Vallejo. According to CHP traffic information, a big-rig hauling a 53-foot-long trailer loaded with 28,000 lbs of food products was traveling eastbound on the highway when it crashed into another vehicle. The circumstances that led up to the crash were not reported, but the big-rig overturned as a result. After overturning, the truck landed on the right-hand shoulder of the highway.
Response
Police arrived at the collision site shortly following the accident and found that at least one party had sustained injuries and called for an ambulance.
According to traffic reports, the overturned big-rig and wreckage blocked multiple lanes of the highway. CHP closed down the right and center lanes and diverted traffic to State Route Four through Interstate 680 while workers removed the wreckage and debris from the highway. The roadway was re-opened by 5:00 p.m.
Investigation
At this time, officers involved with the accident investigation haven’t indicated what they believe might have caused this crash. Frequently, semi-truck accidents involve more than just a single cause and may occur because of something outside of trucker or driver control like defective truck or car parts. In these situations, it’s often the case that a third party can be held liable for damages.
This is especially true for rollover accidents, which frequently involve “roof crush injuries.” These types of injuries happen when a vehicle’s roof can’t withstand an impact. Because companies are expected to manufacture safe products, auto manufacturers are frequently considered responsible for damages caused by crushed roofs.
Taking Action After Trucking Accidents
Big-rigs are a common sight in Vallejo, and truckers are usually responsible drivers, but these vehicles still pose a major risk, and accidents involving large trucks frequently lead to very serious injuries. As the risk of an accident is a normal part of their business, trucking companies are usually ready to begin building a legal defense as soon as accidents happen and may even dispatch a legal response team to gather their own evidence and try to control the narrative around the accident.
To counteract this aggressive, rapid legal defense, it’s critical to reach out to a trustworthy Vallejo truck accident lawyer as soon as you possibly can. An experienced truck accident attorney will be able to advise you on your best next steps toward claiming the compensation you deserve.
