Four-Vehicle Crash on Folsom Boulevard Results in Injury Accident
An injury accident involving a hit-and-run happened in Sacramento on March 5 that involved four vehicles. The crash occurred, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), around 5:30 p.m. along westbound Folsom Boulevard just west of Bradshaw Road near Rancho Cordova. A Ford Mustang, Lexus, older Nissan pickup, and another vehicle were involved.
Driver Flees Accident Scene on Foot
The vehicles in the accident blocked the lanes along westbound Folsom. Although all parties exited their vehicles to exchange information, one adult male fled on foot from the pickup. According to a park ranger at the location, the man might have run to hide in a field nearby.
Police Seek Hit-and-Run Driver
Police obtained the license plate number of the vehicle he was driving, so it may just be a matter of time before the man is apprehended. The accident is under investigation to determine the cause of the injury accident. No data was offered on the injuries that were suffered or whether those persons were hospitalized.
Fleeing From an Injury Accident
Hit-and-run accidents have become common in the area. Someone who is injured in an accident caused by a fleeing driver may wonder how they will obtain compensation for their medical bills and other losses. An attorney experienced in handling these types of accidents may be able to help locate that driver. In this way, their insurance company can be held financially liable or the case can be taken to court.
Investigating to Locate a Driver Who Flees
My law office is experienced in locating hit-and-run drivers to help our injured clients obtain fair compensation. We do this because we believe that it’s bad enough to be injured because of someone’s negligent actions. That injured party should never have to pay for their own medical bills, lost wages from being unable to work, and not be reimbursed for their pain and suffering.
How Investigators Locate a Fleeing Driver
Our investigative team does everything they can to locate a driver who has left the scene of an injury accident. Some of the areas in which an investigation is conducted include:
- They examine the police report for mistakes, which can mean the difference in being compensated or not.
- Interviews are conducted with the witnesses to the injury accident. In many cases, someone has captured the accident on their cell phone or can describe the car and recall at least a partial license plate. This makes the job of locating the driver easier.
- The crash scene is examined, which includes accident reconstruction. Photos are taken, and evidence is sought that may help identify the vehicle, such as paint, metal pieces, and tire marks.
- The investigators look for surveillance cameras in the area from traffic lights and businesses. This is strong evidence used both by insurance companies and in court.
An Injured Person Has the Option of Using Insurance
In the event the fleeing driver cannot be located, our injured client has the option of using their uninsured/underinsured insurance policy to cover their losses. This type of insurance is an add-on that is offered when drivers select coverage for their auto. If the injured party does not have this policy, it can still provide coverage if someone else in the household has it. Using an uninsured/underinsured policy doesn’t raise the rates and is a good way to cover expenses.
