Injury Accident to Pedestrian Reported on Stockton Boulevard
An injury accident in Sacramento on May 7 involved a pedestrian and a hit-and-run driver. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the collision happened on Stockton Boulevard between Patterson Way and Fowler Avenue around 2:30 p.m. The extent of the injuries was unknown. However, an ambulance was called to the scene. CHP traffic accident investigators are seeking the driver who fled the scene.
Accidents That Result in a Pedestrian Injury Accident
The following walking conditions can contribute to pedestrian injury accidents, such as driver negligence. Injured pedestrians may be able to file a claim for compensation with the help of an injury lawyer who determines the cause of the accident and who is at fault.
Negligence by the Driver in an Accident
In most pedestrian accidents, failure to yield the right of way is the most common form of driver negligence. It can include violations such as driving through an intersection without looking both ways or running a stop sign or red light. Distracted driving, speeding, and backing up or turning without using caution are also forms of negligence.
Hit-and-Run Drivers and Accidents
When a hit-and-run is involved in an injury accident, it is important to locate them to hold them responsible for their negligence. Our office has successfully located hit-and-run drivers over the years. We do it by diligently collecting the evidence to locate the vehicle, such as traffic surveillance cameras, witness statements, and more.
Insurance Coverage to Pay for Injuries
If the injured pedestrian carries the uninsured/underinsured policy for their auto, it can be used to pay medical expenses if the fleeing driver isn’t located. If the pedestrian does not have this insurance but a family member does, theirs can be used. It will not affect the policy rates in the future.
Unsafe Walking Conditions Can Lead to a Pedestrian Injury Accident
In unsafe walking conditions, pedestrians can sustain serious injuries due to poor sidewalk maintenance, inadequate lighting at night, potholes and other hazards. A municipality or other government entity may have failed to properly maintain the area in some cases, causing these issues. It may be possible to sue the government entity for injuries, but because the filing deadline is only six months, hiring an accident lawyer might be a wise decision. Your accident attorney can conduct your case and negotiate with the government on your behalf to ensure you receive the compensation you deserve.
Getting the Help You Need to Recover Compensation
Injured pedestrians can gather evidence to support their claims by hiring a personal injury lawyer. Besides medical bills and lost wages, they can calculate how much pain and suffering the injured party should be compensated for. While you recover from your injury, being compensated for damages can ease financial stress and allow you to focus on getting better.
