Crashes of Light Planes
A crash involving a light plane has become relatively common in the United States, with nearly four occurring daily. Plane crashes often cause severe injuries and fatalities. Some of the primary reasons include:
- Lost control in flight; in other words, the plane’s engine stalls while in the air
- The plane crashes into the ground because of weather conditions
- System component failure, which may indicate a defect
- Inadequate pilot training and education
- Planes built by amateurs
- Experimental aircraft
- Lack of regular maintenance
Investigating an Airplane Crash
Many airplane accidents could have been prevented, and investigating the crash can determine the cause. Our investigators work with local and federal authorities to find out why the accident occurred and what factors caused it. In this way, an injured person or grieving family can obtain compensation. Some of the areas of our investigation include:
- Our investigators checked repair and maintenance records to ensure the plane was safe.
- The plane’s engine and other parts are examined to determine if a defect or other anomaly caused the crash.
- When the plane took off and crashed, information from air traffic control was examined.
- The flight log can often provide helpful information.
- Cell phones and recorded data are checked.
- Pilot performance is examined to see if an error contributed to or caused the crash.
When the evidence is gathered, our injury attorneys can construct a robust case supporting our client’s compensation claim.
