Feather River Boulevard Injury Crash Involving a Pedestrian
An injury crash involving a pedestrian and motor vehicle occurred on December 7, south of Marysville. The accident happened shortly after 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of Feather River Boulevard and Arboga Road in Linda. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) accident report said a Hyundai sedan had struck the pedestrian. Although fire department emergency responders were called to the scene to assess injuries, no report was issued on the extent of trauma the pedestrian suffered. An investigation into the cause of the collision is underway by CHP traffic detectives.
Risks Associated With Pedestrian Accidents
There is the possibility that a pedestrian may suffer severe injuries when struck by any vehicle, even if it is small. In some cases, pedestrians can go flying and hit the vehicle’s hood or the windshield, or they may land on the ground hard. Traumatic brain injuries, soft tissue lacerations, bone fractures, and spinal cord injuries are some of the most prevalent injuries sustained in pedestrian accidents.
A Pedestrian Accident Often Occurs at an Intersection
Pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcycle riders, vehicles, and others are converging and heading in different directions at an intersection. People approaching an intersection should remain alert and avoid negligence that could lead to an injury crash involving a pedestrian. An intersection must be well-constructed as well as being well-designed and functional. In Marysville, traffic crashes can be caused by traffic lights that are not timed properly, obscured corners, and other problems. Accidents happen at or near intersections for a variety of reasons, including:
- Running through red lights or stop signs can result in accidents with pedestrians stepping off curbs or in crosswalks.
- A pedestrian can be involved in an accident when a speeding driver fails to stop in time.
- It can be the driver’s fault for not checking before making a right turn, and a pedestrian crossing the street legally is struck.
- Injuries caused by illegal U-turns can be the responsibility of drivers.
- A distracted driver is driving through an intersection as someone steps off the curb can lead to an injury crash involving a pedestrian.
