Injury Crash on Mills Station Road Where Driver Fled the Scene

An injury crash occurred in Sacramento on October 15 when a car struck two vehicles, and the driver fled the scene. The collision happened around 6:13 a.m. along Mills Station Road just east of Routier Road. The suspect vehicle was followed by the driver of one of the cars it struck, who reported it to the California Highway Patrol (CHP)

Driver Fled the Scene After Crashing Into Two Vehicles

The vehicles that were hit included the reporting person’s car and a utility truck. It was suspected that the utility truck driver had suffered injuries, and the Sacramento Fire Department paramedics were called. In the police report, it was said that the suspect vehicle crashed into the others at a high rate of speed.

Suspect Vehicle Located and Driver Suspected of Drunk Driving

The reporting person and the suspect vehicle were found pulled over along westbound Mills Station Road. The suspect vehicle where the driver fled the scene exhibited a missing front bumper, and the trunk was open. A toxicology unit was called to administer a test to see if the driver of that vehicle was intoxicated. An investigative unit of CHP traffic is working on determining the cause of the crash.

Drunk Driving and Traffic Collisions

When a driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs, they cannot use good judgment or safely drive an automobile. If another’s negligent actions injure you, and the driver fled the scene while intoxicated, you have the right to file a claim to recover compensation. An accident attorney specializing in personal injury claims can assist you in recovering the compensation you deserve. The following may be recovered:

  • Medical expenses: The injured party may recover compensation for all the medical expenses arising from the accident. Ambulance fees, hospitalization, surgeries, and others are included. Rehabilitative care, out-of-pocket expenses, and home modifications needed after you return home are recoverable also.
  • Income: Wages lost because the injured person cannot work can be claimed. Included are pension and insurance benefits, tips, regular bonuses, and other monies usually received through the job.
  • Physical and emotional pain and suffering: Physical suffering and pain are common after an injury accident. However, so is emotional trauma, such as sleepless nights, anxiety, depression, and other symptoms.

Hit-and-Run Driver Can’t Be Located

When a driver flees the scene of an injury accident and cannot be located, the injured person may be able to recover compensation for their medical expenses by using their uninsured/underinsured auto policy. Many Californians carry this insurance due to the high number of uninsured people. When the injured person does not have this add-on policy but another family member does, they can use theirs instead. The rates remain unaffected.
