Injury Reported in South State Street Two-Vehicle Accident

A two-vehicle accident on June 21 in Ukiah resulted in at least one injury. The accident happened at the intersection of South State Street and Oak Knoll Road around 3:22 p.m. between a sedan and a van. The intersection was blocked by the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP)

Cause of Two-Vehicle Accident Being Determined

One person involved in the collision phoned 911 to say that someone was injured, and CalFire first responders were called to the scene. A Nissan Sentra involved in the crash sustained major front-end damage. To determine the cause of the collision, the CHP traffic accident unit is investigating the incident.

Determining the Cause of an Intersection Accident

When an intersection two-vehicle accident occurs, it is important to determine the cause of the incident. Investigators typically start by reviewing the evidence at the scene, such as skid marks and debris and interviewing witnesses. They also investigate if any traffic violations occurred in relation to the accident and review the police report for mistakes.

If it is determined that the fault lies with the other driver, they may be held financially responsible for any damages caused by the collision. In other cases, if a government agency was negligent in properly maintaining roads and signage at the intersection, they may also be liable. However, if a government entity is to blame, there is only a six-month window in which to file a claim. Your attorney will ensure the paperwork is put in before the time limit expires. In addition, your lawyer can handle the negotiations so that you obtain a fair settlement.

Traffic Collision Compensation

A two-vehicle accident often causes serious injuries. The following compensation may be available to someone who has been injured in a traffic accident:

  • Medical: In the event of a traffic crash, any medical expenses incurred can be recovered. This includes ambulance fees, hospitalization costs, rehabilitation expenses, etc. When an insurance company or court considers a claim, future medical expenses are included if the injury has not healed.
  • Wages: If you are unable to work, you can recover your lost wages, including any bonuses or insurance or pension benefits. A lower-paying job or inability to work in the future is factored in up to the age of retirement if the injured party has to take on a lower-paying job.
  • Compensation for pain and suffering: Physical, psychological, and emotional pain can be sought after an accident. Trauma often causes people to experience nightmares, fear and anxiety. Following a two-vehicle accident, some people are afraid to leave their homes or get in a car afterward. Professional treatment is often required for those who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, which is recoverable.
