Injury Reported in Two-Vehicle Crash on I-5 Southbound
A two-vehicle crash occurred in Sacramento on June 1 that sent one person to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center with injuries. The crash happened along southbound Interstate 5 just north of the J Street off-ramp around 9:24 a.m., involving a Penske box truck and an SUV. The SUV was found blocking the middle lane by California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers.
One Person Transported to Hospital After Two-Vehicle Crash
The box truck was on the right-hand side. Sacramento Fire Department first responders arrived to assess injuries, which were determined to be minor, and transported one person to a hospital. The accident is being reviewed by CHP traffic collision investigators to find out why it happened.
Rent-a-Truck Accidents
It is becoming more popular and widespread to rent box trucks to move homes or transport goods. The risks associated with operating rental trucks should not be underestimated, even though these vehicles may provide an efficient means of transportation. The rate of accidents involving rental trucks has been increasing according to recent studies.
Accidents Involving Rental Trucks Are Often Fatal
Nearly one-fifth of all accidents involving motor vehicles occur with rental trucks. In contrast, private cars and trucks only account for 10 percent of fatalities, so accidents involving rental trucks occur at twice the rate of other motor vehicles. Many of these accidents are caused by inexperienced drivers who are unfamiliar with maneuvering in tight spaces or handling larger vehicles, which leads to a two-vehicle crash.
Safety Features and Inspections Are Often Lacking in Rental Trucks
Rental trucks are often not equipped with the safety features to protect drivers and others sharing the roadway. This includes airbags, anti-lock brakes and other advanced technologies. A U.S. Department of Transportation study said that inspections by rental companies of their vehicles are often not performed correctly before renting them, which might also influence the accident rate. When you are harmed in a box truck accident, an injury lawyer can help you get the compensation you deserve.
The Most Common Cause of Rental Truck Accidents Is Driver Negligence
There are many common reasons for rental truck collisions, and it is important to recognize them in order to prevent extensive damage and injuries. Accidents involving rental trucks are often caused by driver negligence or distraction. In addition to speeding, turning without signaling and running red lights and stop signs, aggressive driving and other similar offenses lead to a serious collision.
Road Conditions Can Contribute to a Two-Vehicle Crash
Accidents involving rental trucks can be caused by both driver negligence and hazardous road conditions. The statute of limitations for filing a claim against the government entity responsible for road maintenance is six months. Meeting deadlines can be easier with the help of an injury lawyer. If the paperwork is not filed in time, the case will be rejected.
