Crash at Northgate Boulevard and Bridgeford Drive Intersection
A South Natomas intersection accident recently sent one man to the hospital with injuries. The crash happened between two sedans at Northgate Boulevard, where it intersects with Bridgeford Drive at around 3:00 in the afternoon, according to the report by the Sacramento Police Department. Both vehicles sustained major front-end damage. First responders with the fire department had to extract the injured man from his vehicle. He was then taken to a nearby hospital with injuries. Others involved in the intersection accident were treated at the scene. Northbound Northgate Boulevard was shut down at El Camino as tow trucks were called to the scene to remove the vehicles.
Causes of an Intersection Accident
Accidents at intersections can have a number of causes, which is why you need help from a seasoned lawyer to support your claim for compensation when you’ve been injured. Accident injuries can occur because:
- A motorist attempts to turn at an intersection without looking for oncoming traffic.
- The driver ignores a stop sign or red light.
- The motorist is distracted by talking or texting on a cellphone or is performing some other action that takes their eyes off the road.
- The driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- A driver is fatigued from performing shift work, has apnea and drifts off to sleep.
- The driver tries to make a left turn to enter a lane faster than an oncoming vehicle.
- The at-fault driver is speeding and cannot stop in time to avoid an intersection accident.
- There is an auto defect in the vehicle, such as bad brakes or tires that prevents the driver from controlling the car or truck.
Investigation of an Intersection Accident in Natomas
By conducting an investigation of an intersection accident and gathering the evidence, a strong claim can be made for compensation. Under personal injury law, the injured person may claim the costs of all of their medical expenses associated with the accident, their lost wages and for pain and suffering. A lawyer with experience and the resources to conduct a thorough investigation can help.
What Investigators Do
Investigators go to the site to examine the accident right after it happened and check for mistakes in the police report and talk to the witnesses. Accident reconstruction is performed, which uncovers forensic evidence that can show driver error or other faults as well as the positioning of the vehicles. Traffic surveillance and nearby business cameras are an important source of evidence since they can show the intersection accident as it happened.
Poor Road Maintenance Contributes to Accidents
Poor government maintenance can contribute to an accident, and the entity in charge can be held responsible. Areas where maintenance can be neglected include fissures or potholes in the pavement, missing or defective signs, and overgrown foliage that obscures a motorist’s view of oncoming traffic.
How Evidence Is Used in Proving an Intersection Accident Claim
Our lawyers take over once all the evidence is gathered to build a strong case that favors our client. The evidence strengthens a claim when we are negotiating with an insurance company for a client. It is also used in preparing a court case if the insurance company refuses to settle with a reasonable amount of compensation.
