Finding a Hit and Run Driver After an Intersection Accident
Our law firm investigates hit and run accidents in conjunction with an injured driver’s insurance company and the police. It is important to find the fleeing driver so that the rights of the injured party can be protected.
Our investigators scour the area for clues as to what happened. We look for road damage such as skid marks to determine if the vehicle tried to stop or not. We speak to residents near the crash site since the vast majority of hit and run drivers live in the local area.
If the crash is an intersection accident, our investigators are able to obtain video footage from traffic surveillance cameras. This enables us to see the accident in real-time.
What Happens When the Fleeing Driver Is Not Located
On occasion, a hit and run driver will elude capture. This sends the injured party into a panic because they wonder who will pay their bills while they are unable to work. Our firm understands such worries. However, we assist clients by helping them use their own uninsured insurance in California. This add-on to the California auto insurance policy will pay for medical expenses and lost wages.
Why Are Hit and Runs Happening So Frequently?
There are many reasons for a hit and run accident. Here are some of the most common:
- The fleeing driver panicked and ran.
- The driver had been drinking or using drugs before the crash and does not want to be caught.
- The driver has a warrant out for his or her arrest and flees.
Investigation Into an Intersection Accident
Aside from working to locate a hit and run driver by tracking evidence obtained at the accident site, our investigators also use accident reconstruction techniques. These allow us to plot the position of the vehicle before, during and after the accident. We speak with witnesses at the scene and review police records for mistakes. Our firm does not leave one stone unturned to ensure that we have the data needed to prove liability. Once all information is gathered, our legal team uses it to build a robust case for our clients.
