Two-Vehicle Crash on National Drive Creates Multiple Casualties
An intersection collision in North Sacramento on May 21 resulted in fatalities and injuries after two vehicles collided. Two fatalities and five injuries were reported in the accident, which occurred around 7:30 p.m. at National Drive and Striker Avenue. The intersection remained shut down until around 11:00 p.m.
Details of the Fatal Intersection Collision
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the driver of a Mustang convertible was on Striker Avenue headed west at high speeds while a Chevy Malibu was heading at about 50 mph along National Drive. At this point, the Mustang ran through a stop sign and hit the Chevy. The impact caused the Mustang to experience a rollover, which ejected two passengers riding in the backseat. Both died at the accident scene.
Injuries in the Intersection Collision
The driver of the Mustang, as well as another passenger in the vehicle, suffered major injuries in the intersection collision. Three people in the Chevy, two women, and a minor suffered minor injuries and were also transported to a hospital for additional evaluation and treatment. The accident is being investigated by the CHP.
Speeding and Accidents
Speeding is a major cause of all traffic collisions. By ignoring a speed limit, the driver risks losing control of their vehicle or being unable to stop in an emergency. When a speeder strikes another vehicle, one or both may experience a rollover, which is one of the most dangerous types of accidents.
Rollover Injuries and Fatalities in an Intersection Collision
When a rollover occurs in an intersection collision, one or even both vehicles may overturn. Although light trucks, vans, and SUVs are most likely to roll over, any vehicle can if the force of the impact is great enough. A rollover also increases the likelihood of being ejected from the vehicle, especially if the occupants are not wearing restraints or the seat belts are defective.
Seeking Advice Following an Injury Accident
Suffering an injury in an accident often leads to high medical bills, the inability to go to work, and pain and suffering. Our legal team has successfully obtained compensation for an injured person against the at-fault party many times over the years. We strongly believe that it is bad enough to be injured in the first place. The injured party should never be responsible for the financial loss when another driver or entity was the cause. By filing a claim against the at-fault driver, the injured person can obtain compensation to cover those losses either through the negligent driver’s insurance company or in civil court.
Loss of a Loved One in an Accident
Nothing is more heartbreaking than losing a loved one, especially when it was caused by someone else’s negligence. Going through this period leaves family members not only grieving but wanting justice for the loss of their loved one. By filing a wrongful death claim with the help of a personal injury attorney, they can not only recover the cost of the end-of-life expenses and lost wages their loved one would have earned in their lifetime, but they can also obtain a sense of justice.
