A traffic accident near Isleton in South Sacramento on July 24 resulted in two people being transported to a hospital to be treated for injuries. Causes of a Traffic Accident on a Two-Lane Road
Roadways in rural areas don’t always have the level of maintenance that freeways do, which makes them more dangerous. Some of the traffic accidents that commonly happen on two-lane roads are:
- Improper passing is one of the most common reasons for a traffic accident on a two-lane road. Drivers who are impatient or don’t have a clear view of traffic ahead may attempt to pass the vehicle in front of them and discover too late that another car is coming straight at them. These head-on collisions often result in serious injuries and fatalities.
- Two-lane highways are more interesting, which can result in distracted driving. Although it’s more attractive than the monotony of a freeway, it only takes a few seconds for an accident to occur or a vehicle to run off the road.
- Animals in the road can be a problem on a two-lane thoroughfare because of nearby farms and wild animals that may jump in front of a car.
- Taking a curve at too fast a speed can end up either causing a traffic accident or with the vehicle going off the road.
- Drunk driving continues to be a problem on two-lane roads as well as elsewhere. Since a driver who is inebriated cannot maintain their speed and can drift repeatedly over the centerline, it can easily result in a traffic accident.
- Fatigued driving also contributes to traffic accidents on two-lane roads. A driver who becomes mesmerized by the roadway or nods off can drift into the opposing lane or rear-end a slower vehicle in front.
- Slow farm vehicles such as tractors and combines on a two-lane road can cause an accident if another vehicle comes over a hill at a normal speed and collides with one of them.
- Unstable shoulders, narrow lanes, and lack of upkeep in rural areas can create a situation that leads to a traffic accident. The government entity in charge of maintenance may be liable in these situations.
Rural road accident injuries are dangerous because of the distance to a hospital and emergency responders. When you were injured in an accident that was someone else’s fault, you may be able to claim fair compensation. This can cover the cost of medical expenses, lost wages because you cannot go to work, and for your pain and suffering.
