July is one of the hottest times of the year in Modesto, California. Coincidentally, it is also one of the liveliest times of the year! With it being the middle of summer plus the 4th of July holiday, it is almost too easy to find an excuse to go out and have fun. If you haven’t taken the time on your own to figure out what will be on your calendar this month – worry no more. I have just made things even easier for you. Below is a short but exciting list of activities taking place in Modesto this July.
The Wizard of Oz

There really is no place like home when one of the most spectacular musicals of all time, the Wizard of Oz, finds its way to the Gallo Center! The whole family will be struck with awe as they travel through the Yellow Brick Road and beyond. Everyone will love the whimsical characters of Dorothy, Toto, the Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Cowardly Lion as they travel to meet the wonderful wizard of Oz. Don’t miss out on the chance to experience this grand, one-of-a-kind production, complete with classic songs, dazzling choreography, and phenomenal special effects.
Prohibition Pub Crawl
Date: Saturday, July 27, 2019
Time: 4:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Location: Downtown Modesto
Admission: $12 – $36 tickets
Ladies and gentleman, this event gives you an excuse to dress like you’re in the 1920s all while hopping from one pub to the next. This pub crawl event is being hosted by Do The Crawl. There will be no shortage of games, prizes, and of course specials on food and beverages. To participate in this bar crawl, you must be at least 21 years old. All participants will get a wristband at the designated meet-up spot, and this wristband gives you access to premium features such as no cover charge, drink specials, and food discounts. We will be passing through The Fox Pub, St. Stan’s Brewing, Bayou Bar & Grill, Graffiti Dogs, and more!
Fiji Festival
Date: Saturday, July 27, 2019
Time: 2:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Location: 1416 Maze Boulevard, Modesto, CA 95351
Admission: Free
This tropical festival is open to the public and offers all you could ever need for one day: food vendors, retail pop-up vendors, and a beer garden. After sundown, Tiki torches will be lit to maintain the island-like atmosphere. Make the most of your Saturday night by dancing in the moonlight with a live DJ. Kids are welcome too – there will be a kids zone full of activities to keep them happy the whole day.
