Lake County Cement Truck Crash Hospitalizes One
On Thursday, August 12, 2021, one person was sent to the hospital after suffering injuries in a Lake County cement truck accident. Reports issued by California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicate that the accident involved a single vehicle and happened during the morning in a rural area. No other individuals were reported to have been involved in the crash, and the accident is still under CHP investigation.
Crash Details
The accident happened at about 9:35 a.m. on Highway 29, just south of the intersection at Bottle Rock Road. A 2001 Peterbilt cement truck was heading southbound on the highway at a speed of around 45 miles per hour just prior to the accident. At this time, CHP states that the truck’s right front tire blew out, causing the driver to lose control.
Following the blowout, the cement truck traveled off the western edge of the highway and crashed into a dirt embankment. The collision caused the truck to overturn onto its driver’s side. The truck reportedly came to a stop blocking the highway’s southbound lane. While the vehicle was fully loaded with cement when the accident occurred, no spill was reported.
Response
After receiving notification of the accident, CHP sent response teams to the area. Upon reaching the site, responders discovered that the driver, a 59-year-old Kelseyville man, had sustained injuries and had him transported to the Sutter Lakeside Hospital. Reportedly, he was expected to recover.
Investigation
While CHP’s investigation continues, the only suspected collision factor that officers have reported is the blown-out tire. Additionally, police say that the driver had been properly using his safety equipment at the time of the accident.
In cases that involve defective auto parts, the manufacturer, retailer, and/or seller of the part is often considered financially responsible for damages caused by the crash. This means that injured individuals can seek to hold these companies responsible for things like ambulance rides, hospital stays, lost income, and more.
Trucking Accidents and Contacting an Attorney
After truck accidents, trucking companies usually take quick, aggressive actions to build a legal defense against any financial liability for the crash. In many cases, the company will even dispatch their own legal team to the scene in order to gather evidence and take down their own witness statements.
To ensure that you can obtain the payments that you deserve for your accident damages, it’s important to reach out to a Clearlake truck accident attorney as soon as you are able. The faster that an attorney can begin working on your case, the better they’ll be able to prevent at-fault parties from disclaiming responsibility.
