Late Night Highway 101 Collision Leaves Two Injured
On Monday, January 25, 2021, two people suffered injuries during a Highway 101 collision. California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that the accident happened very late at night and was a solo-vehicle accident. The two people that were injured during the incident were identified as a 19-year-old Santa Rosa resident and a 20-year-old Mendocino County resident. Both were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.
Crash Details
The collision reportedly occurred at 12:17 a.m. on the southbound side of Highway 101 past the exit for Dry Creek Road in the Healdsburg area. The Santa Rosa man was driving a Ford Focus when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the car veered to the right and left the highway. The Ford traveled down a nearby embankment before crashing into a tree and coming to a stop. No further details about the collision were reported.
Response
After they were called about the incident, CHP dispatchers sent response officials to the location. Reaching the site, emergency responders found both vehicle occupants inside of the car and determined that they had sustained serious injuries. Both men were taken to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment. No other people were involved in the crash.
Investigation of Highway 101 Collision
At this time, CHP says that their officers are still actively investigating possible causes of this traumatic crash. So far, reports have not mentioned any likely factors. Often, solo-vehicle collisions happen for more than one reason, and a number of common auto accident factors aren’t the fault of involved drivers. These kinds of causes include dangerously designed roads as well as defective car parts, and more. When these sorts of factors cause accidents, parties other than the driver may be considered at-fault and held financially responsible for damages caused by the accident.
Accident Injuries are Serious
Crash survivors are often left with injuries that have a huge impact on their life. Many of the most common auto accident injuries require extensive care from medical professionals, including hospital stays, ambulance transportation, surgeries, medications, physical therapy, and more. All of this treatment can leave crash survivors with expensive medical bills that may be hard to afford, especially if your collision injuries affected your ability to do your job and earn an income.
