Late Night Rollover Accident in Brentwood
I’m Ed Smith, I’m a Brentwood Personal Injury Lawyer. During the evening of Wednesday, March 7, 2018, a man lost control of his car and ran off the road in Brentwood. His car overturned, but thankfully he did not have any life-threatening injuries. This was a single-car accident. For the full story, continue reading below.
Overturned Vehicle on Vasco Road
Officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) have been investigating the accident and how it began in the first place. Statements from the driver revealed that he had been traveling southwards along Vasco Road when an approaching vehicle had its bright lights turned on. The driver said that staring in the same direction as the oncoming car’s brights caused his vision to temporarily blur.
Once the vehicle had passed and his vision had refocused, the male driver noticed that his vehicle had begun to drift off the arterial road and onto the right shoulder. In an attempt to realign his car with the road, the driver reported that he over-corrected his vehicle by turning left and right once more. These quick turns resulted in his car, a silver Honda Accord, ultimately running off the main road and flipping over. The Honda then came to a stop right-side up again and on its tires.
The Aftermath of a Rollover Accident
The man was able to carefully remove himself out of his wrecked car by climbing through an open window. There were multiple people who had passed by the rollover accident. Some people even helped assist the driver before emergency responders arrived on site. The man was clearly shaken up, although he was communicative and alert. He was eventually taken by ambulance to the Sutter Delta Medical Center located in Antioch. He suffered a laceration to his wrist.
The incident was called in at roughly 9:30 p.m. Responders to the scene included CHP authorities, AMR paramedics, and East Contra Costa Fire Protection District (ECCFPD) Engines 59 and 52. While the scene was being examined by investigators, traffic was closed down along Vasco Road from both directions. The road was closed down for approximately 30 minutes before reopening to the public. The accident is still being further investigated by California Highway Patrol officers.
