A Durham intersection accident between three vehicles occurred on Golden State Highway on July 3 to stop to avoid a collision. The accident happened northwest of Oroville along northbound S.R. 99 at Neal Road around 4:17 p.m. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Butte County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrived at the scene to find a Chevy Camaro, Honda and Chevy Colorado pickup were involved in the crash.

Why Hiring an Accident Lawyer After an Injury Is a Good Idea

An accident attorney can provide a free review of your injury case following your highway accident in Durham to decide if you’re entitled to compensation. The firm’s investigators will gather evidence by examining surveillance footage, reviewing police reports, interviewing witnesses, and leveraging other methods. Once they have established clear evidence of the at-fault party’s liability, they will negotiate with that party’s insurance company on your behalf to secure the highest possible compensation.

Causes of Head-On Crashes

A highway accident in Durham at an intersection can happen for numerous reasons, such as:

  • A driver is distracted by texting, talking on their phone, or looking away, causing them to miss the stopped vehicles at the intersection.
  • The driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs, adversely affecting their judgment, reflexes, and vision.
  • The driver is speeding and cannot stop in time to avoid a rear-end collision.
  • A vehicle defect, such as malfunctioning brakes or steering issues, leads to a loss of control.
  • The driver is overly fatigued and falls asleep at the wheel.

Recoverable Compensation Following an Injury Accident

Accidents, even at low speeds near intersections, can result in significant trauma. If your injuries were caused by a negligent driver, you can file a claim to recover compensation like:

  • Medical costs that arise due to the accident: Compensation can be recovered for your hospital stay, ambulance fees, doctor’s bills, medications, surgeries, tests, and rehabilitation. If ongoing, future medical costs are included.
  • Lost wages due to your injury: You can recover wages lost due to your inability to work, including compensation for your pension, insurance benefits, and other job perks. In cases of permanent disability, you can recover wages up to retirement age.
  • Pain and suffering: Compensation is available for physical and emotional pain and suffering.
