Eastbound U.S. 50 Traffic Affected After Accident With Multiple Injuries
Major injuries were reported in a multiple-vehicle accident that occurred in Rancho Cordova on May 5. The car accident happened around 11:49 a.m. along eastbound U.S. 50 just east of Sunrise Boulevard. Multiple vehicles involved in the crash included, according to the incident report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a Ford Mustang, several Hondas and a Toyota Camry.
SigAlert Issued After Eastbound U.S. 50 Closed by Accident
Traffic backed up following the crash, which blocked the middle lane. At least one person was trapped inside their vehicle and required extrication by Metro Fire District personnel. At this point, all the lanes were blocked, and a SigAlert was issued. However, no detour was provided, and motorists were warned to use caution.
At Least Two People Hospitalized Following Collision
One of the drivers involved in the crash suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries and was transported to Mercy San Juan medical center for treatment. Another patient was taken to Mercy Hospital of Folsom with undescribed injuries. The CHP is investigating the major injury accident to discover how it occurred.
