Stockton Rear-End Crash Occurs Near Eight Mile Road

A Stockton rear-end crash on Interstate 5 resulted in major injuries for a 20-year-old woman on Thursday night. The incident occurred when she stopped her Prius in a lane near Eight Mile Road after one of her front tires failed. Due to ongoing construction, her vehicle remained in a lane with the hazard lights on as she stood in front of it. Suddenly, a 2013 Camry collided with the back of the Prius, causing a chain reaction that led the front of the car to hit the woman, inflicting severe injuries.

Woman Hospitalized After Stockton Rear-End Crash

The crash also involved a 2019 Toyota 4 Runner, although its involvement remains unclear, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The injured woman was transported to a hospital for treatment, while the drivers of the Camry and the 4 Runner reported only minor pain. Authorities with the CHP traffic accident unit continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Liability When a Driver Is Struck While Outside Their Vehicle

A personal injury lawyer can determine liability when a driver is struck outside their vehicle. Once outside the car, the driver is considered a pedestrian if a collision occurs. Several factors need to be considered, such as the location of the accident, visibility conditions at the time, and the actions of both the struck driver and the other involved motorists. Generally, the driver who comes up from behind is considered at fault in a Stockton rear-end crash.

Liability if a Defective Tire Led to an Injury Accident

Determining liability can be complex when a defective tire leads to a Stockton rear-end crash, such as the tire manufacturer, retailer, or vehicle owner. Manufacturers may be liable if the defect resulted from design or manufacturing flaws, violating consumer safety standards. Retailers could also be responsible if they sold tires they knew were defective. Retaining the vehicle and tire is essential so they can be examined by a professional for defects. A personal injury lawyer can help the injured party file an auto product liability claim against the manufacturer, part maker, and others.
