Traffic Crash at Manzanita Avenue Intersection Causes Trauma

A three-vehicle traffic crash in North Highlands caused major injuries to two people on July 2. The accident occurred during daylight hours at the Manzanita Avenue intersection with Auburn Boulevard. One of the two cars involved sustained major front-end damage, while the other was damaged on its front right-hand corner. A tow truck was also involved in the collision.

Two People Hospitalized After Three-Vehicle Traffic Crash

Two people in one of the vehicles had to be extricated by Sacramento Metro Fire personnel. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers blocked off the scene as it was cleared. The two injured people who were extricated were the ones who were injured, and they were taken to a hospital for medical attention and evaluation. The cause of the collision is being determined by the CHP traffic accident investigators.

Most Traffic Collisions Occur at Intersections

About half of all accidents happen at intersections. Most of the time, a multiple-vehicle crash occurs due to negligence by one or more drivers. Because traffic converges from all directions at an intersection, which bicyclists and pedestrians also use, drivers must stay especially alert to avoid causing a collision. A multiple-vehicle crash often occurs due to the following:

  • Drunk driving often leads to intersection collisions.
  • Speeding drivers cannot stop in time to avoid a traffic crash.
  • Distracted drivers who are texting, chatting with passengers or changing the radio station cause accidents.
  • Improper left turns commonly cause intersection accidents.
  • Running a stop sign or red light endangers others at intersections.
  • Negligent right turns occur because the driver doesn’t have a clear view or forgets to look right for pedestrians in the crosswalk.
  • Defective brakes, steering, accelerators and other problems can lead to a crash. An auto product liability claim may be made against the manufacturer for injuries.
  • Malfunctioning traffic lights, overgrown shrubbery, potholes or additional problems can cause a traffic crash. A government claim may be placed if negligent upkeep is responsible. With a six-month limit in which to file, engaging the help of a lawyer might be recommended.

Intersection Accident Investigations

A person who sustained injuries in a multiple-vehicle accident must provide evidence in order to recover compensation. We look for evidence in the following areas:

  • It is possible to calculate the position of the collision and manner of impact by performing accident reconstruction.
  • Witnesses are interviewed. Their corroborative statements are helpful in supporting an accident claim.
  • Checks are made to ensure that the police report is accurate.
  • It is possible that traffic cameras in the area captured the intersection crash. The issuance of a subpoena can be used for verifying negligence.
