Man Arrested on DUI Charges Following Clearlake Area Crash
On Monday, July 6, 2020, one person was hospitalized after being involved in a Clearlake area crash. According to information from California Highway Patrol (CHP), one of the drivers involved in the collision has been placed under arrest on DUI charges related to the accident. Updates on the injured man’s condition have not been reported, but he was expected to fully recover.
Collision Details
The accident took place at about 12:38 a.m. A 25-year-old man from Clearlake was driving a 1982 Toyota pickup truck southbound on Highway 101 just to the north of Cummings Road to the west of the Lake County line. CHP stated that, for reasons that remain under investigation, the driver lost control of the truck and veered over the median into northbound traffic. Shortly after, the Toyota crashed head-on into a 2019 Hyundai Accident. Both cars reportedly came to a stop within the northbound highway lanes.
Response and Arrest
Police and emergency medical officials arrived at the crash site shortly after it was reported to CHP. Responding officials discovered that the driver of the Hyundai had suffered injuries and had him transported to a local hospital via ambulance for treatment. The pickup truck driver was reportedly uninjured.
At the accident scene, police placed the Toyota driver under arrest on DUI charges. At the time of reporting, the driver remained in the custody of the Mendocino County Jail.
Investigation
As police continue to look into the crash, they have not reported any suspected causes other than DUI. However, car accidents are often complex and can be caused by multiple factors. Furthermore, a number of common crash factors aren’t under driver control. These things include malfunctioning car parts or serious issues with the road.
Accident Injuries
Even minor accident injuries can have a major impact on your life. People who’ve suffered injuries during car accidents frequently experience a significant amount of pain as well as mental stress. In many cases, car accident injuries require prolonged medical care and survivors may need to go through physical therapy. All of this care can be prohibitively expensive, especially if your injury has made it hard for you to do your job.
Contacting an Attorney
Fortunately, car accident survivors can take action in order to seek compensation for the damages that they have suffered. By reaching out to an area attorney, you can file a personal injury claim and seek payments for your medical bills, lost income, personal suffering, and other losses. In many cases, crash survivors can obtain the full amount of compensation that they need in order to keep living their lives with security and confidence following a serious crash.
