Man Identified After Fatal Fairfield Motorcycle Accident
On Friday, September 6, 2019, officials of the Solano County Sheriff’s Department released the identity of a man who tragically lost his life during a Fairfield motorcycle accident. The crash took place two days earlier and, according to police, involved two vehicles including a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle. The decedent was identified as James Houghtailing, a 61-year-old resident of Suisun City. The collision is reportedly still under investigation.
Crash Details
According to the Fairfield Police Department (FPD), the crash happened in the area of Baroque Drive and Mangels Boulevard in the northwestern part of the city. The motorist driving the passenger vehicle reportedly attempted to make a left turn, entering the path of the motorcycle. Houghtailing was reportedly not able to avoid crashing into the larger vehicle.
Response
Emergency responders were immediately dispatched to the crash scene. When they arrived, it was discovered that Houghtailing had suffered critical injuries as a result of the accident. Sadly, he could not recover from his injuries and was declared deceased on-site. Whether or not any other individuals were injured during the accident was not reported.
Police reportedly shut down westbound Mangels Boulevard from Green Valley Road to Vintage Valley Drive for several hours while investigators surveyed the area of the crash. Residents of the community of Creekside Meadows were diverted to a nearby emergency access road during the investigation.
The Impact of a Fatal Crash
When people first hear that their family member or friend passed away suddenly due to a car accident, it can be overwhelming. Although there is no right way to feel during these times, most people experience intense emotions such as sadness, confusion, anger, and anxiety. These are all a normal part of the grieving process but can make it challenging to meet the demands of your normal everyday life. On top of this, families who’ve recently lost someone in an accident are also often faced with serious financial hardships such as medical costs, funeral expenses, loss of income, and more.
It’s crucial that families have the financial stability they need to fully process their grief after going through such a traumatic event. In many cases, families can recover the full amount they deserve for their financial and personal losses by pursuing a wrongful death claim and holding negligent parties responsible.
Necessity of Quick Action
Unfortunately, negligent parties are typically not going through the same difficult emotions as those who’ve lost loved ones in a crash. Usually, these parties start defending themselves from responsibility right away. Furthermore, people who die in accidents can’t tell police what happened. This means that their version of events can go overlooked. Having a lawyer early on to investigate the accident privately and build your legal case can be a critical part of claiming the compensation you and your loved ones deserve.
