Man Identified After Redding Area Car Accident
On Thursday, June 13, 2019, officials of the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office released the identity of a man who sadly lost his life in a suspected DUI accident that took place near Redding. The man was identified as Bradley Daniel Murchison, a 27-year-old resident of the community of Oak Run. The accident reportedly took place two days earlier and involved only one vehicle. The collision is still under investigation, but California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials have stated that they are currently considering alcohol to be a factor involved in the accident. I would like to extend my condolences to Mr. Murchison’s loved ones while they are mourning over the loss of their friend and family member.
Accident Information
The collision took place at about 9:50 p.m. Murchison had been driving a 2006 Ford F350 eastbound on Oak Run Road to the west of Oak Run close to the intersection of Fern Road. For reasons that are not currently understood, the vehicle veered to the left and drove off of the road. After traveling off the roadway, the pickup truck drove a short distance before overturning. As the vehicle overturned, Murchison was ejected through the vehicle’s window.
Responders arrived at the accident scene shortly after CHP was notified of the accident via phone. Upon arriving at the crash site, medical officials found four individuals had been injured during the accident. Murchison was found lying outside the truck with what medics determined were critical injuries. Sadly, his injuries could not be treated, and he was declared deceased on-site. According to reports, the three vehicle passengers all sustained minor injuries. Whether or not any of the passengers were taken to a nearby hospital was not reported.
Investigation
While CHP has stated that alcohol is a suspected factor in this crash, officers are still trying to determine what other factors may have been involved. Single-vehicle accidents are often caused by a variety of factors including common causes such as medical issues, traffic violations, driving at unsafe speeds, defective car parts such as seat belts or accelerator pedals, roadway hazards, and more.
Calling an Attorney
When people learn that an accident left their loved one with fatal trauma, they often experience an intense period of grief. During this time, it can be difficult to keep up with the normal demands of your daily life. For this reason, it is common for people to delay speaking to an attorney about their case. However, the sooner that a lawyer can begin working on your case, the better they can investigate the evidence and advocate for your right to compensation for your losses from insurers and/or negligent parties. Even if you are unsure if your case merits assistance from a lawyer, most attorneys will offer you free, valuable advice over the phone so you can know what your options are.
