Man Killed in Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Modesto
The Modesto Police Department (Modesto PD) reported that a man from Riverbank was killed in a recent fatal motorcycle crash. The fatal collision occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of Wood Sorrel Drive and Sylvan Avenue, just east of Oakdale Road and close to the Hudson Station Post Office.
Officers at the scene reported that 62-year-old Timothy Wallace of Riverbank was riding a motorcycle westbound on Sylvan Avenue. At the same time, a 2004 Saturn sedan was stopped at the posted stop sign on Wood Sorrel Drive. The Saturn driver, a 39-year-old Modesto woman, reportedly pulled out to conduct a left-hand turn onto Sylvan Avenue and struck the motorcyclist.
Life-saving measures were performed, but Mr. Wallace succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Saturn driver was reported uninjured in the incident. Further details on the Modesto motorcycle accident were not immediately available as an investigation is underway by local law enforcement.

Who Can File a Wrongful Death Claim in California?
When an individual has suffered fatal injuries in an accident caused by someone else’s wrongful actions or negligence, specific surviving family members are eligible to seek compensation for economic and non-economic damages. These may include medical and funeral expenses, loss of future financial support, and other losses the family has suffered because of the unexpected death.
Under California law, a wrongful death lawsuit may be brought on behalf of a surviving spouse, domestic partner, or child. If such relatives are nonexistent, others may file for wrongful death. As outlined in the California Code of Civil Procedure Section 377.60, this includes stepchildren, parents, putative spouse, and the putative spouse’s children. Therefore, guidance from a lawyer with years of experience handling wrongful death cases can be essential. Watch the video below for details on how to find the best attorney to handle your wrongful death claim.
