Medical Transport Plane Crash
I’m Ed Smith, a Northern California Airplane Crash Attorney. The bodies of four people were recovered out of a medical transport airplane that tragically crashed on Friday, July 29, 2016 in a densely forested range of mountains in the Northern California region. Authorities said the airplane’s pilot had reported seeing smoke in the cockpit just prior to the crash.
Emergency On Board – Plane Vanishes From Radar
The medical transport airplane was a Piper PA31. On board was the pilot, a transport medic, a patient and a flight nurse. The flight path was approximately 360 miles from Crescent City, near the border of Oregon, to Oakland when the pilot called in an emergency at about 1:00 a.m.
The pilot requested to return to Crescent City but then the plane vanished off of radar approximately 5 miles short of the Arcata-Eureka Airport along the far northern coast, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
