Midtown Fatal Crash
I’m Ed Smith, a Sacramento auto accident attorney. On Sunday, November 27, 2016 a woman from Wilton, a location in the greater Sacramento metropolitan area, lost her life due to injuries sustained in a car crash that occurred on Thanksgiving Day.
Where Did the Midtown Fatal Crash Occur?
The Sacramento Police Department has reported that the crash occurred around 4 p.m in midtown Sacramento at the intersection of Capitol Avenue and 30th Street just outside of the Sutter Hospital Parking Garage and Wells Fargo.
Identity of Woman Who Passed Away in Midtown Fatal Crash
The woman who died as a result of the car accident was identified as Lois Frank-Thomas. She had been a long time resident of Wilton and, at the time of her death, was 78-years old. After emergency responders arrived at the scene of the accident, Ms. Frank-Thomas was immediately taken to the emergency room of a nearby hospital where she received treatment for her traumatic injuries. However, treatment was not enough to bring Ms. Frank-Thomas to a recovery, and she passed away according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after about three days of intensive emergency care.
Who is at Fault for the Midtown Fatal Crash
It is too soon to know for certain. There are various factors of the auto accident that remain unclear and are under active investigation. For this reason, there is only minimal information about the crash currently reported by the Sacramento Police Department or other parties who witnessed the collision. It has been reported that the accident involved only two vehicles and the only currently identified person that was in either car is Ms. Frank-Thomas. No other injuries, traumatic or otherwise, besides the fatal injuries sustained by Ms. Frank-Thomas have been reported.
Potential for Wrongful Death Charges
The Sacramento Police Department mentioned in their report on the incident that there is a possibility of one party involved in the crash pressing criminal charges on the other. It is not known to the public as of yet, but it is likely that the charges being pressed are wrongful death charges. In the case of most accidents that result in death, the tragedy is one that could have been prevented. If one party involved in the accident has been negligent, or disregarded others’ safety in such a way as to lead to the death of another person, there is a high likelihood that family or persons close to the deceased may have the right to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit.
