Modesto Fuel Tanker Crash
Modesto Fuel Tanker Crash
I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto truck accident lawyer. A truck accident caused a main highway across Central California to shut down for about 14 hours, creating a detour through part of Modesto’s main business sectors over the weekend.
What Happened?
The CHP reported that the tanker truck rolled over at an off ramp along State Route 99 at about 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016.
A report from the Modesto Bee indicated that the truck overturned and spilled approximately 8,000 gallons of diesel fuel and gasoline onto the median and roadway along a stretch of Highway 99.
Was the Truck Driver Injured?
Thankfully, we have learned that the driver of the truck suffered only minor injuries.
Highway Detour During Clean Up
Traffic had to be diverted off of Highway 99 and onto city streets in Modesto during the closure.
What are Common Causes of ModestoTruck Accidents?
A commercial vehicle or truck crash may be caused by one of many factors. Sometimes it is by a combination of circumstances and factors. Oftentimes, commercial vehicle crashes like the one above could have been avoided if a driver had exercised due care. Commercial truck crashes can be caused by some of the following factors:
- Fatigue of the truck driver — driving while drowsy;
- Speeding (or going to fast for road conditions)
- Erratic or sudden braking, turning and/or acceleration;
- Drunk or Impaired driving;
- Improperly balanced loads making the truck unstable
- Failure to obey traffic signals and/or signs.
It is crucial that the cause of your car accident with a large commercial truck be thoroughly investigated so that the party or parties responsible for causing the collision can be identified. If this important task is not performed, you may be unable to recover the full amount of compensation to which you are entitled. An experienced accident lawyer has the necessary resources to draw upon in order to complete a thorough investigation in an efficient and timely manner.
What Caused the Double Tanker Truck To Roll?
It is still too soon to know the cause of the Modesto fuel tanker crash. It generally takes the investigating agency 7 to 10 days to prepare a report of their findings and release a traffic collision report. Sometimes these reports can be inconclusive or in error. This can leave the family members or victims of those hurt in highway crashes with big rigs with many unanswered questions. If you or someone you love has been seriously hurt in a crash with a large commercial truck, it is crucial to contact an experienced accident attorney as soon as possible. An experienced lawyer can help protect your rights and take the steps necessary to recover compensation for injuries sustained as a result of truck driver negligence.
