Sadly, the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene of the fatal Modesto motorcycle accident. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office has identified the decedent as 37-year-old Scott Hudson of Modesto.
Loss of a Loved One in a Fatal Modesto Motorcycle Wreck
When grieving the loss of a close relative, it can be overwhelming to deal with the heartbreak, especially if that loved one suffered fatal injuries because of someone else’s negligence. While nothing may bring a lost family member back or undo the pain that has been caused by a fatal motorcycle accident, surviving family members may be able to hold the at-fault party financially accountable for their wrongdoing.
Survivors who have experienced a sudden death in the family may find themselves struggling to pay for end of life medical expenses and funeral services costs. At the same time, surviving family members may be financially devastated if they have lost the income they depended on from the decedent. Bringing a wrongful death claim can help a family recover monetary damages for their loss.
Legal Process Involved in Wrongful Death Claims
It can be a challenging process to bring a wrongful death claim, all while dealing with grief and loss. Surviving family members must collect and preserve evidence and documents to prove their case, including CHP traffic accident reports, funeral receipts, coroner records, employment and income history, and more. Survivors must also deal with communications and negotiations with the insurance company, which may not be fair when it comes to providing wrongful death compensation for the loss of a loved one. Such cases must also be filed within the two-year statute of limitations in California. Families should be concerned with grieving and recovering from their loss during such a difficult time. By hiring a top-rated Modesto personal injury lawyer who is experienced in handling wrongful death cases, a family can rest assured knowing all aspects of their claim will be handled so they can focus on healing.
