Manteca Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident

A 48-year-old Manteca man passed away after he collided with a vehicle that was exiting out of a driveway while riding his motorcycle in Manteca on August 11, 2018. The motorcycle accident occurred along the 1800 block of East Yosemite Avenue shortly before noon when a Toyota Corolla reportedly pulled out of the El Rancho Mobile Home Park in front of an oncoming motorcyclist. The rider was unable to stop in time and struck the front corner panel and driver’s side door of the Toyota. Several bystanders attempted to render aid to the injured rider until emergency personnel arrived. Sadly, their efforts were unsuccessful as the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Officials have withheld his identity due to pending notification of family members.

We are deeply saddened by the news of this tragic accident and would like to take this time to extend our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of the victim.

Motorcycle Accident Manteca Ca Investigation

According to the Manteca Police Department, an improper left turn is believed to have caused the motorcycle accident. A preliminary report suggested a van traveling in front of the motorcyclist slowed down to allow the Toyota to turn left out of the mobile home park. The rider reportedly attempted to overtake the van by switching into the inside lane when the Toyota turned left where a “no left turn” traffic sign was posted. Since the rider was unable to react in time to avoid the Toyota, the impact propelled the rider off of his bike and onto the roadway, causing him to suffer fatal injuries at the scene.

Common Injuries in a Motorcycle Accident

Although many types of traumatic injuries can be sustained in a motor vehicle accident, motorcyclists are likely to suffer far more devastating injuries due to their lack of protection. Brain and head injuries are common if a motorcycle rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of a collision. Road rash is also common when a rider is ejected off their bike and makes contact with the pavement, which can lead to open wounds or even degloving of the skin. Some accidents have the potential to cause irreversible damage to a limb resulting in an amputation injury. Blunt trauma from a crash can also compress organs, cause internal bleeding, or even result in death in some extreme cases.

Motorcycle Accidents and Wrongful Death

Motorcyclists face many dangers on the road and are likely to suffer serious injuries or lose their lives when involved in collisions with other motor vehicles. Many motorcycle accidents are caused by the negligence of a motor vehicle driver, which can be extremely difficult to deal with. When a rider is killed in a crash caused by another individual, the family of the decedent may bring a wrongful death claim against the party responsible for their loved one’s death. For more details, contact an experienced attorney.
