Motorcycle Accident on McClellan Drive Causes Injuries to Rider

A motorcycle accident caused injuries to the rider after colliding with a pole in North Highlands on January 20. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) police report stated that the accident happened at McClellan Drive and Georgia Drive around 2:45 p.m. The accident was reported by a passerby, who remained with the injured rider as they awaited the arrival of paramedics with the Sacramento Fire Department. The rider reportedly suffered rib injuries in the North Highlands accident. The CHP is working toward finding out what caused the crash.

Intersection Accidents

Intersections are dangerous areas due to congestion, multiple entrances, and a combination of passenger vehicles, motorcycles, pedestrians, and bicycle riders. Because of this confusion, it is easy for motorists and motorcyclists alike to be involved in an accident. On many occasions, a motorcyclist, swerving to get out of the way of an errant vehicle, may crash into a stationary object in the area. This also happens when a pedestrian runs out into the road, or a bicyclist seems to appear from nowhere.

Liability in an Intersection Motorcycle Accident

Liability in an intersection motorcycle accident depends on the cause. A motorcyclist who is cut off by another driver is most likely not responsible for the accident. On other occasions, traffic lights may be functioning improperly, or the timing may be off, leading to a motorcycle accident. In addition, stop signs may be hidden by overgrown foliage. This lack of maintenance is usually the fault of the government agency responsible for road care.

Damages in a Motorcycle Accident

Conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of a motorcycle accident to provide proof of negligence is important because it supports our client’s claim for compensation. Over the years, my law firm has handled many of these cases successfully and understands the prejudices against motorcycle riders by some. However, motorcyclists have the same rights to compensation when negligence by another motorist or entity causes their injuries.

They can face high medical bills, lost time at work, and pain and suffering as a result. This is why it is important to obtain the advice of an injury attorney. Areas, where damages can be recovered following a motorcycle accident, include:

  • All medical costs associated with the accident, including hospitalization, physicians’ and specialists’ fees, rehabilitation, prescription medicines, and others, are recoverable.
  • The cost of further care if the injury is expected to continue into the future can be calculated and included.
  • Wages that were lost because the injured person was unable to work and any bonuses or other monies they would have earned are covered.
  • Monetary compensation for the loss of consortium, which is the personal relationship between spouses, can be recovered.
  • Pain and suffering is recoverable. It may also include anxiety, mental anguish, sleeplessness, and other emotional or psychological symptoms suffered by the injured person if they required professional help to treat it.
  • Loss of the enjoyment of life is recoverable if the person is prevented from performing activities they once enjoyed such as dancing, skiing and others.

Investigating the Site of a Motorcycle Crash

Our investigative team works hard to recover the evidence needed to support our client’s compensation claim. This includes performing accident reconstruction to determine the positioning of the vehicles before, during, and after the crash. They search the area for cameras that might have captured the motorcycle wreck on tape, talk to witnesses and check the police report for mistakes. Once the evidence is all compiled, our injury lawyers take over to use it in building a strong case that supports our client’s claim.
