Elsie Avenue Crash Results in Motorcycle Fatality
A motorcycle fatality accident occurred in Sacramento on March 9 following a collision with at least one other vehicle. The accident happened along eastbound Elsie Avenue just east of Stockton Boulevard around 8:20 a.m.
The incident report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that the motorcyclist died at the accident scene. Both the Honda Accord that struck the rider and the motorcycle were towed as evidence of the incident. A GoFundMe page has been set up for the Solares family to assist with final resting costs.
Motor Vehicle Accidents Involving Motorcycles
It is possible for a rider to suffer serious injuries or even die in a collision involving a motorcycle and a motor vehicle. All accidents cannot be avoided, unfortunately. Motorists operating passenger vehicles tend to be aware of others operating similar vehicles. The drivers don’t always pay attention to other road users, such as motorcyclists, bicyclists or pedestrians.

Wrongful Death Claims: Who Can File Them
A motorcycle fatality accident may result in wrongful death claims by immediate family members of the deceased. The spouse and children in the family, regardless of whether they are natural or adopted, are included. Children whose deceased stepparents provided them with at least half of their support are also eligible to file. Alternatively, the administrator of the estate may file, however, only one claim may be made if one or more of the deceased’s offspring have died but have children. The deceased’s parents and siblings may file if there are no immediate family members.
Damages That Can Be Recovered in a Wrongful Death Lawsuit
There are a variety of factors that determine the amount of damages that can be recovered in a case involving a motorcycle fatality accident, such as the decedent’s age, income and other considerations. However, it is possible for the family to receive the following compensation:
- Expenses associated with the funeral and burial of the decedent
- The deceased’s wages, including benefits, may be recovered until the decedent would have reached their retirement age
- Loss of consortium, love and affection may be recovered by the surviving spouse
- It may be possible for children in the family to recover the loss of nurturing and guidance
- In the event of a loss of household assistance, compensation can be claimed
- It is possible to recover lost inheritance in some cases
