Motorcycle Rider Injured on Greenback Lane

A motorcycle rider was injured in Orangevale on June 19 when a collision happened involving two motor vehicles. The accident occurred shortly after 6:00 in the morning along Greenback Lane in front of WinCo, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). A gray Charger and a black HD were also involved in the collision and were blocking both lanes along Greenback. According to one person who reported the accident, they thought the vehicles had possibly hit something slick on the roadway that made the drivers lose control. However, this has not been confirmed by police. The CHP is investigating the crash to determine its cause and assign fault in the accident.

Injuries in the Accident

According to the police, those inside the motor vehicles suffered minor injuries. The motorcycle rider ended up in the center median of the road, while the motorcycle was along the right-hand side. An ambulance was called to take the motorcycle rider to a hospital for treatment.

Negligent Motorists and Motorcycle Accidents

Motorcyclists know that there are enough dangers associated with riding without adding a negligent motorist. Some of the most common reasons the driver of a motor vehicle or entity causes injury to a motorcyclist are:

  • The driver makes a left turn in front of an oncoming motorcycle. Many motorists say they never saw the rider. Others are trying to beat the motorcycle across the road without waiting for the rider to pass.
  • Speeding is a major cause of accidents with motorcyclists. A driver who is going above the speed limit has less time to react and needs a longer stopping distance to avoid a crash.
  • Distracted driving is a common problem all over California. Talking on a cell phone, texting or doing some other activity while driving takes the motorist’s focus off the roadway. This can end up causing serious injuries to someone on a motorcycle.
  • Not checking for motorcyclists when changing lanes can cause an accident. Crashing into the side of a motorcyclist who is passing in another lane can end up causing severe injuries to the rider.
  • A motorist who stops suddenly can get rear-ended by a motorcyclist. This can cause the rider to be ejected from the motorcycle, a common cause of fatalities.
  • Road conditions that are dangerous can lead to a motorcycle accident. This may include unrepaired potholes, crumbling pavement, lack of signage, or debris.
  • Drunk drivers are a common cause of all types of traffic collisions. A drunk driver’s poor judgment, slowed reflexes, and alcohol’s interference with their vision may lead to a crash with a motorcycle.

Motorcycle Accident Compensation

A motorcycle rider is entitled to claim compensation for accident injuries due to negligence just as other motorists are. Because a motorcycle accident often causes serious injuries, it is important for the rider to consult with an experienced attorney to obtain the compensation they need. In addition to negotiating with the insurance company in your stead, the lawyer, if necessary, can build a case that is strong to present in civil court. This is done by examining existing evidence, performing accident reconstruction to prove the true cause, and using expert witnesses to support your claim.
