Motorcyclist Dies in Placerville Accident
California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicated that one man lost his life during a vehicle accident while he was riding his motorcycle in Placerville on Saturday, June 15, 2019. According to officials, the accident involved only one vehicle and did not injure any other individuals. The fatally injured motorcyclist has only been identified as Paul Alves, a 35-year-old man from the city of Sacramento. CHP has stated that the collision remains under investigation. My condolences are sent out to Mr. Alves’ loved ones while they are grieving over their terrible loss.
Collision Details
The motorcyclist had been driving a 2016 Harley Davidson on Greenstone Road in Placerville at about 12:30 p.m. heading south near the Greenstone Cutoff. CHP indicated that Alves had been driving at an unsafe speed when he entered a right-hand curve in the roadway. While attempting to navigate the curve, Alves reportedly lost control of his vehicle and crossed over the roadway median into northbound lanes.
After crossing over the median, the motorcycle tipped over, landing on its side and sliding across the road. It reportedly slid a short distance before striking a nearby drainage ditch. The impact with the drainage ditch threw Alves from his motorcycle into a roadside telephone pole.
Response
Accident witnesses contacted CHP to report the accident and responders were immediately dispatched to the location of the crash. When responders arrived, they found Alves with serious injuries and emergency medics attempted to revive him using CPR. Tragically, Alves’ injuries were too severe, and the man passed away at the scene of the crash.
Investigation
As CHP authorities continue their investigation of this accident, officers have said that they do not know whether or not the driver had been impaired in any way. Additionally, officials reported that the weather had been clear and the road was dry when the accident occurred. Motorcycle accidents are commonly caused by a variety of factors.
