Motorcyclist Dies in Tahoe Area Collision

On Sunday, October 11, 2020, a motorcyclist lost his life during a Tahoe area collision. At this time, the decedent’s identity is being withheld by El Dorado County authorities. Reports from California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicate that the accident happened on Highway Interstate 80 near the California-Nevada state line and involved three separate vehicles. In addition to the decedent, at least one other person suffered severe injuries.

Crash Information

The accident occurred shortly before 8:00 p.m. on the westbound side of I-80 near the small community of Floriston. Police did not report the events that led up to the collision. However, officers stated that a motorcycle collided with a white pickup truck. The crash caused the motorcycle to slide underneath the pickup. Reports stated that the third vehicle was a black-colored sedan that sustained damage to its rear end.

Response

The crash was quickly reported to emergency dispatchers, and authorities immediately sent out response teams. Reportedly, both CHP and the Nevada Highway Patrol (CHP) assisted with accident response.

Responders at the site of the crash found that the motorcyclist had sustained critical injuries. Tragically, medics pronounced the motorcyclist deceased at the scene. According to CHP, a helicopter ambulance was called to the site in order to transport at least one additional injured party to a hospital for emergency care.

Investigation

As the accident occurred on the California side of the state line, CHP is handling the collision investigation. As police continue to look into possible causes of the accident, speeding is the only possible factor that has been reported. Importantly, many accidents like this one happen for more than one reason. Furthermore, many common crash causes are not the fault of any involved driver. Non-driver crash causes include defective auto parts, roadway hazards, and more.

Conducting a Private Investigation

Investigating a multiple-vehicle car accident can be a difficult job, especially if one or more drivers are unable to provide police with testimony about what happened. When officials aren’t able to ask drivers about what took place, they may never fully understand what caused the crash. Sadly, this may prevent families from recovering fair compensation for their damages.

In order to ensure that an accident is fully investigated, it is critical to reach out to a trustworthy wrongful death attorney who has experience conducting private crash investigations. A good lawyer can commit their resources and skills to investigate the crash while prioritizing your family’s right to claim compensation.

Wrongful Death Damages

Replacing a family member or friend is impossible, and dealing with the emotional pain caused by a deadly auto accident can be hard. However, family members and dependents of auto accident decedents are often able to obtain payments to help them have financial security while they recover. These payments can be obtained through wrongful death claims. To learn more about wrongful death damages, watch this video:
