Multi-Vehicle Crash Fatally Injures Merced Woman
I’m Ed Smith, a Merced wrongful death lawyer. A multi-vehicle crash took place near Merced on Saturday, August 5, 2017. Sadly, the collision caused a resident of Merced to suffer fatal injuries.
I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to the loved ones of the woman that passed away in this tragic accident.
What Happened?
A 24-year-old man from Merced was driving his 2017 Toyota Corolla southbound along Highway 99 in the vicinity of Franklin Road. For unknown reasons, the man allegedly failed to slow his vehicle and collided with the rear-end of a 2001 Honda CR-V driven by a 79-year-old Merced resident. The collision caused the Honda to be pinned between the Toyota and a 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck. The Ford was then pushed into a big rig after the impact.
Was Anybody Injured?
The motorist of the Toyota Corolla suffered a foot injury but was not taken to a hospital. Thankfully, the passenger of the Toyota and the drivers of the Ford F-150 and the big rig escaped injuries in the accident. Two women, ages 47 and 78, were riding as passengers with the 79-year-old motorist of the Honda CR-V. The driver of the Honda and the 47-year-old passenger suffered traumatic injuries and were transported to the Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. The 78-year-old Merced woman, unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
What Caused the Accident?
A cause of the accident has not yet been decided. An investigation is ongoing. Authorities usually take one to two weeks to process a Traffic Collision Report. A traffic report may sometimes be inconclusive and/or contain error pertaining to fault. It is crucial, especially when a victim has passed away, to contact an experienced Merced auto accident attorney who can study the accident scene and chain of events leading up to the collision to pinpoint causation.

If you have been involved in a multi-vehicle accident, it is vital to seek medical attention as soon as possible. If you do not receive immediate treatment, the nature of your injuries may worsen as time progresses. It is important to document all symptoms and areas where you feel pain to receive the best possible treatment.
