Accident Near Gold Run Along I-80 Causes Three Critical Injuries
A violent accident near Gold Run on December 17 resulted in multiple critical injuries when two vehicles collided and went off the roadway. The accident happened along westbound I-80 just west of the Gold Run Road off-ramp, northeast of Auburn, around 11:27 a.m. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the crash involved two SUVs.
Both Vehicles Experience Rollovers in Accident Near Gold Run
Both vehicles rolled over in the collision. One of the vehicles rolled over a guardrail, causing serious trauma to one person inside. Emergency responders with Cal Fire reported three people suffered critical injuries in the crash. Airlifts were called to the scene to take the injured to hospitals. No update on their conditions has been given as yet.
Investigation Underway on Cause of Two-Vehicle Rollover Collision
In addition, two large pine trees were knocked down in the accident near Gold Run, with at least one of them lying across the roadway. About 25 feet of guardrail was also damaged. Shortly after 1:00 p.m., the fallen trees had been cut up and removed from the roadway, but the road was still strewed with debris. An investigation of how the collision occurred is underway by CHP traffic accident detectives.
