Three-Vehicle Crash on Laguna Boulevard Resulted in Multiple Hospitalizations
An accident during the early hours of June 16 in Elk Grove between three vehicles resulted in multiple injuries. Around 2:00 a.m., officers with the Elk Grove Police Department were called to the accident site on Laguna Boulevard as well as five units with the Cosumnes Fire Department. Four injured parties were hospitalized following the collision, including some of the patients with significant trauma.
One Driver Ejected From Vehicle, According to Witnesses
According to Dan Quiggle, the Fire Department Deputy Chief, three or more cars were involved in the accident. At least one vehicle was moving at a high rate of speed. When the three vehicles crashed, a light pole and some trees in the area were taken out. Witnesses to the accident said they saw one driver who was ejected from their vehicle. The police department reported that the road was expected to reopen at about 6:20 a.m.
Reckless Driving Can Lead to Multiple Injuries in an Accident
Reckless driving occurs when a motorist acts in a way that disregards the safety of others. Some types of reckless driving that can lead to multiple injuries include:
- Speeding: A speeding driver has a higher risk of losing control of their vehicle and needs a much longer stopping distance in an emergency.
- Tailgating: Driving too closely behind another vehicle can end up causing an accident with multiple injuries. At an intersection, where tailgating can be a problem, striking the vehicle in front can push them into other cars.
- Drunk driving: Those who are intoxicated cannot drive safely and cause multiple injuries every year. They are also the most common cause of a head-on collision on a highway when they enter the roadway from the wrong direction.
- Running a red light: Red light runners are a common cause of intersection accidents, which often end in a T-bone collision.
- Distracted driving: Now the number one cause of an accident, distractions such as texting or chatting on a cell phone take the driver’s eyes and mental focus from the task at hand – driving.
Accident Injury Compensation
No one gets in their vehicle and expects to be injured in a traffic accident. However, it happens all the time. When it does, and a negligent driver is the cause, we can help you obtain the compensation you deserve by gathering the evidence needed to support your claim. Some of the investigative techniques used include:
- Examining the police report
- Taking statements from any witnesses to the accident
- Looking at video from nearby surveillance cameras to see if any of them captured the accident with multiple injuries on tape
- Performing accident reconstruction to determine how the collision occurred
- Checking roadway damage, which can indicate whether a driver attempted to stop before the accident happened
When the evidence has been gathered, our injury attorneys compile it to construct a case that supports our client’s compensation claim.
