Three Accidents in Napa County on Saturday
Multiple traffic incidents on Saturday, June 26, 2021, sent several involved parties to area hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to serious. Two of the incidents involved suspected drunk driving.
Saturday Morning Accident – Suspected Drunk Driving
On the morning of Saturday, June 26th, a traffic incident occurred in Napa County that was believed to involve alcohol impairment, according to officials from the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
At approximately 7:00 a.m., an 18-year-old Fairfield man was driving southbound on Silverado Trail just north of Yountville Cross Road. He was at the wheel of a 2009 Chevrolet. His vehicle veered from the roadway and crashed into an area of trees and bushes. His passenger, an 18-year-old woman from Calistoga, was transported by American Medical Response (AMR) to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center (The Queen) in Napa. A CHP official described her injuries as minor.
The driver was arrested and booked into the jail in Napa County on charges of driving under the influence and causing injury, which is a felony.
Saturday Afternoon Motorcycle Crash Near Lake Berryessa
Later that same day, in the afternoon, a 24-year old man from Vallejo sustained serious injuries when he lost control of his 2006 Yamaha motorcycle for unknown reasons. The crash occurred in the vicinity of Lake Berryessa, according to the CHP. His bike veered off the road and overturned. The rider was airlifted to The Queen. He had been wearing a helmet and was not believed to have been impaired in any way.
Saturday Night Accident – Suspected Drunk Driving
As the evening hours descended on Saturday, June 26th, another suspected drunk driving incident occurred. Shortly after 10:00 p.m., a crash involving three vehicles happened on Old Sonoma Road in the area south of Buhman Avenue. In this incident, a Ford Focus that was traveling southbound on Old Sonoma crossed over the center line, then hit two cars that were heading north on Old Sonoma — a BMW and a Subaru Impreza, according to the CHP.
The man at the wheel of the Ford Focus was a 33-year-old from Novato. He was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, and transported by ambulance to Fairfield’s NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield.
Two occupants of the BMW were also taken to the hospital. Their injuries were reported to be mild to moderate. A passenger in the Impreza was pregnant, and she was transported by helicopter to John Muir Health-Walnut Creek Medical Center. According to the CHP, this was done largely as a precaution.
