Accident Along South Watt Avenue Causes Injury

A multiple-vehicle accident near Rosemont caused at least one injury in a May 26 collision. The crash happened at South Watt Avenue and Folsom Boulevard over Highway 50 at around 12:20 in the afternoon, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). It involved a Toyota Camry, Subaru Outback, and Honda CRV.

Lanes Blocked on Highway 50 Due to Accident

Two of the vehicles blocked the slow lane, and the Sacramento Fire Department trucks blocked the second and third lanes while checking for injuries. At least one injury was reported. An investigation is underway by the CHP to find out how the collision occurred.

Causes of an Intersection Multiple-Vehicle Accident

A multiple-vehicle accident often occurs at an intersection. One of the problems is if two vehicles collide, they can be pushed into a third car in an opposing lane or up in front. Recent studies show that more than half of all traffic accidents occur at intersections. Accidents at intersections may also involve pedestrians or bicycle riders, resulting in serious injuries. Some of the reasons this type of multiple-vehicle accident happens include:

  • A driver runs through a stop sign or red light, which can cause a collision with other vehicles.
  • A motorist becomes impatient and makes a risky right-hand turn. In some cases, the driver’s view is blocked by vehicles to the left. However, turning right without a clear view of oncoming traffic can cause a multiple-vehicle accident.
  • A driver makes a left-hand turn just after the light has changed, causing a head-on collision by oncoming traffic.
  • The motorist attempts to change lanes while making a left-hand turn, resulting in a sideswipe accident.
  • The motorist makes an illegal U-turn at an intersection where it is not permitted.
  • The government entity in charge of maintaining the roadway, signs, signal lights, and others has been negligent, which led to a multiple-vehicle accident. That government entity can be held responsible for accident injuries. The statute of limitations is much shorter in government claims, so having a lawyer to handle the document filing can be helpful.

Seeking Compensation Following a Multiple-Vehicle Accident

When multiple vehicles are involved in an accident, more than one may be at fault. For example, one driver may have been distracted by texting while driving, while another might have been tailgating. To get the compensation that an injured party deserves, it must be shown what types of negligence were involved.

This is where a personal injury attorney can help. By investigating a multiple-vehicle accident, the lawyer can determine who was at fault. Over the years my law firm has been around, we’ve successfully handled many accidents of this type and may be able to help you too.
