Golden State Highway Accident Interferes With Rush Hour Traffic
A multiple-vehicle traffic collision in South Sacramento on June 21 resulted in at least one injury. The accident was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) as occurring along Golden State Highway northbound just south of the eastbound Fruitridge Road on-ramp shortly after 8:00 a.m. A Chevy Blazer, Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry, and one other vehicle were involved. The accident blocked the number one and two lanes during rush-hour traffic. Police had the roadway cleared by 8:25 a.m. Authorities are investigating the collision to determine how it occurred.
How a Multiple-Vehicle Traffic Collision Occurs
Most multiple-vehicle traffic collisions begin with one incident. Although an accident involving multiple vehicles can happen on residential streets, those that occur on highways are more likely to involve many vehicles. Some of the reasons these traffic collisions occur are as follows:
- A speeding driver is unable to stop when traffic slows down suddenly.
- Texting, talking on their cell phone, accessing GPS, and other activities while driving takes the motorist’s eyes from the road. Distracted driving leads to more traffic accidents than any other type of negligence.
- Tailgating can easily cause a multiple-vehicle traffic collision. Because the vehicle is so close to the one in front, if a slow down occurs, they will end up causing a rear-end collision, which can escalate to involve multiple cars.
- Drunk driving contributes to many collisions that can involve multiple vehicles. A driver who is weaving on the roadway and driving at erratic speeds can cause a collision just because other motorists are trying to get out of their way.
- Exit and entrance ramps on highways are common locations for an accident to occur. Vehicles move over recklessly to not miss their exit and change speeds because the ramps require it.
Contacting a Lawyer Following a Multiple-Vehicle Traffic Collision
Those who are injured in an accident involving multiple vehicles may wonder how a lawyer could help. Contacting a personal injury lawyer can help you get fair compensation to cover your medical costs, lost wages, and your pain and suffering. Insurance companies and other drivers will try to avoid any liability, and it is hard for someone doing it alone to try to collect compensation.
Since insurance companies are a business intended to make money, they can deny your claim and often offer you far less than the amount you need to cover your losses. We’ve successfully handled many such claims over the years. We go out and collect together the evidence that is needed to support your claim, which includes:
- Our investigators check other drivers involved in the accident for negligence that might have caused it, such as the actions above. This may include a check of driving records for traffic citations or previous accidents.
- The accident report filed by the police is examined to make sure it is accurate because errors could affect a client’s claim.
- Area surveillance cameras are examined to see if the multiple-vehicle traffic collision was captured on film. If it was, the video can be subpoenaed to use in supporting the compensation claim and show fault by other drivers.
- Statements are taken from the witnesses because they can corroborate how the accident occurred.
- Accident reconstruction is performed, which shows how the crash happened.
Our injury attorneys use the evidence compiled by our investigators to build a case to support your claim.
