Napa Car Accident Fatally Injures Paso Robles Man
A Paso Robles man tragically lost his life during a vehicle accident that took place in Napa on Thursday, April 2, 2020. Napa County authorities are currently withholding the identity of the decedent until his family is notified. However, police have indicated that he was a 30-year-old man. The collision reportedly involved one vehicle and happened in the very early morning. California Highway Patrol (CHP) is still investigating possible causal factors of the accident.
Crash Details
The collision happened at around 3:33 a.m. on a private driveway just northwest of the city of Napa on the 2200 block of Dry Creek Road. The Paso Robles man was one of two people inside of a 2007 Toyota FJ cruiser that rolled off of the driveway before traveling down an embankment and crashing into an irrigation pond, leaving the vehicle submerged.
When emergency officials reached the crash scene, they found that the Paso Robles man was severely injured and had him placed on an ambulance and rushed to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center. Sadly, he was not able to recover from his injuries and was pronounced deceased in hospital custody.
The other occupant, a 27-year-old Napa man, was reportedly able to exit the vehicle on his own following the crash and did not suffer injuries. Additionally, CHP indicated that no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Investigation
As police continue looking into this collision, officers have stated that alcohol is a suspected factor. Collisions like this one are often caused by multiple factors, and many common vehicle collision causes are outside of driver control. These often include defective roads, malfunctioning or dangerous vehicle parts, and more.
Rollovers and Liability
Rollovers, especially those involving top-heavy vehicles like passenger SUVs, are more likely than most collisions to involve serious and/or fatal trauma. A key reason that this happens is that the roofs of passenger vehicles are often too weak to withstand a major impact, meaning that they are liable to be crushed during a rollover. This can leave people in the vehicle with what are referred to as “roof crush injuries.”
With accidents involving roof crush injuries, the company responsible for manufacturing the vehicle is often considered a negligent party and can be held financially responsible for the damages caused during the crash.
Calling an Attorney
The period after a fatal crash can be very difficult for people, and intense feelings of grief can make it hard to deal with your daily life. For this reason, many people delay calling an attorney about a wrongful death case. However, having legal representation early on can be critical to your case. Additionally, knowing that your case is being handled by a skilled professional often helps people focus on the important task of emotional healing.
