Napa Man Hospitalized Following Motorcycle Accident Near Lake Berryessa
On Saturday, June 6, 2020, a 28-year-old Napa man was hospitalized after he was injured during a motorcycle accident. California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicated that the crash happened just after noon outside of Lake Berryessa on a rural road. The motorcycle was reportedly the only vehicle involved in the crash and the injured man was most recently reported to be in hospital custody in serious condition.
Collision Information
Police stated that the wreck happened at about 12:11 p.m. on Pope Canyon Road to the east of the intersection at Dollarhide Road. The motorcyclist was driving east along Pope Canyon when, according to CHP, he lost control of his bike and veered off-road. After leaving the asphalt, the motorcycle collided with a large boulder on the northern roadway shoulder.
After receiving a call about the crash, CHP dispatch rushed an emergency response team out to the location of the wreck. When responders found the motorcyclist, they determined that he had suffered critical trauma and called for a helicopter ambulance. The man was flown to the Queen of the Valley Hospital in Southern Napa for emergency medical procedures.
Investigation
CHP officers are conducting investigations into what may have caused the crash and have stated that they do not suspect driver intoxication was involved. Furthermore, reports indicated that the motorcyclist had been properly wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Often, motorcycle collisions are caused by more than one thing and frequently involve factors that riders aren’t able to control. In some cases, a faulty motorcycle part suddenly throws the bike off-course. In others, a serious defect in the pavement can cause the rider to make a dangerous hazard-avoidance maneuver.
Motorcyclist Injuries
Motorcyclists are usually very attentive drivers, but still are likely to be seriously injured when an accident occurs. Even in relatively minor accidents, it’s possible for motorcyclists to suffer major trauma because they aren’t protected by the safety features of larger vehicles. Some of the common serious motorcyclist injuries include the following:
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Amputation injuries
- Bone fractures
- Road Rash
- Amputation injuries
- Internal damage
- Lacerations
These injuries can range in severity, and all of them have the potential to dramatically impact the lives of motorcyclists and their families. Being injured often means facing a long, difficult process of recovery as well as a number of medical bills for medicine, surgery, ambulances, therapy, and other necessary care. Paying for the care you need can be even harder if your injuries have affected your ability to work and earn an income.
Getting Help
It’s important for motorcyclists to have the resources they need to recover and move forward with their lives after being seriously hurt. For this reason, it’s critical to contact a trusted Napa motorcycle accident attorney at the earliest opportunity you have. A good attorney will be able to help you hold at-fault parties and insurance companies responsible for the financial and personal damages you have sustained.
