Nevada City Multi-Vehicle Injury Accident
I’m Ed Smith, a Nevada City personal injury lawyer. On Saturday, April 8, 2017, a multi-vehicle collision occurred in Grass Valley. The accident caused Interstate 80 near the Highway 20 interchange to be congested for a short time following the accident.
What Happened?
The accident took place shortly after 8:15 p.m. and involved multiple vehicles, one of which was a Cal Trans pickup truck. What caused the accident was not immediately made public. This was a chain-of-reaction type accident. Many of the vehicles involved sustained both front and rear-end damage. The wet road conditions may have been a factor in the accident. This may have caused the vehicles to spin out into the roadway following the impact. Two jackknifed tractor-trailer trucks were also located near the scene of the accident, it is unknown if they were involved in this accident. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is leading the investigation of this accident. Speeding, distracted driving, or driving under the influence have not yet been ruled out as contributing factors.
Were There Injuries?
Yes. Multiple people suffered minor to major injuries in this accident. One woman was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment of the traumatic injuries she suffered in the collision. The current condition of the other involved motorists and passengers are not known at this time.
