Motorcyclist Injured on Kirkby Way in Single-Vehicle Accident

A motorcycle accident in North Highlands caused major injuries to the rider on May 13. The accident happened along Kirkby Way between Roseville Road and Penwith Way around 6:40 p.m. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) incident report, it was unclear whether this was a single-vehicle collision or another car or truck was involved.

Motorcycle Accident Sends Rider to the Hospital With Major Injuries

Emergency responders with Sac Metro Fire arrived at the scene to assess the injured motorcyclist and transport that patient to a hospital. The CHP is investigating the incident to determine how it occurred.

Outside Influences Involved in a Motorcycle Accident

Although most of the time, a single motorcycle accident is the result of negligence by the rider, such as speeding or becoming distracted, there are other reasons that a collision of this type can occur. When an outside factor causes a motorcycle accident, the injured rider may be able to recover damages by placing a claim for compensation. By doing so, they can recover the cost of all of their medical expenses, the wages that were lost because the rider couldn’t work and damages for their pain and suffering.

A Defective Motorcycle Part Can Lead to a Serious Injury Accident

The manufacturer and others along the production line may be held responsible when a defective motorcycle part leads to an accident. From bad brakes to problems with steering or a defective tire, any of these issues could cause an injury accident. It is recommended that the motorcycle involved in the accident be kept until any defects are discovered. By bringing a product liability lawsuit against the manufacturer and others, compensation can be recovered for the injured person.

Negligence by the Government Can Lead to a Motorcycle Accident

Government entities may be held liable for motorcycle injuries caused by negligent road maintenance. It is possible for a rider to lose control of their motorcycle while riding due to insufficient lighting, potholes, gravel or debris in the roadway or broken traffic signals. If a claim is filed against a government agency, the statute of limitations for bringing such a lawsuit expires earlier than for other personal injury claims.

The initial claim against a government entity must be filed in under six months, which is the statute of limitations. Other deadlines may apply also if your claim is refused or just ignored by the government entity. Having a personal injury lawyer take care of the paperwork and filing ensures that it will be done in a timely manner.

Hit-and-Run or Aggressive Drivers

A hit-and-run or an aggressive driver can also cause a motorcycle accident. The first by striking the motorcycle and leaving. In the case of an aggressive driver, the motorcyclist may be forced off the roadway and end up crashing. An injury lawyer can investigate a motorcycle collision to find out if a hit-and-run or aggressive driver was the cause. When that person has been located, they can be held responsible for the accident injuries.
