What Happened?
The accident happened locally in Oakley at approximately 8:05 p.m. on September 26th. Oakley Police Department released a statement with details about how the collision occurred. A Ford Fiesta vehicle was heading east going down Carpenter Road, and then slowed down while planning to make a left on Vineyard Drive. At this time, a Ford Mustang traveling behind the Fiesta struck the vehicle’s rear end.
Collision at Vineyard Drive & Carpenter Road
The impact caused the Fiesta to spin out of control. The vehicle crossed the westbound lane before coming to a stop in the front yard of a house located on the corner of Vineyard Drive and Carpenter Road. In the midst of the chaos, the Fiesta hit a home sprinkler system controller that resulted in a flow of water bursting from the leaking mechanism. The Mustang slowed down and came to a stop on Carpenter Road.

The Ford Mustang passenger had a laceration to the head and was transferred via ambulance to the Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch. Both occupants of the Ford Fiesta were brought to the John Muir Health Trauma Center located in Walnut Creek. Their injuries were unspecified at the time of their transportation. The Mustang driver was treated and released at the scene.
Cause of the Oakley Car Accident
Oakley Police Department has the task of investigating the origin of the car crash. Authorities suspect that excessive speed may have caused the collision.
Negligence in Accidents
Negligence occurs when an individual fails to behave in a reasonable way, ignoring their duty of care to keep themselves and other people safe from harm. Negligence can occur through recklessness, e.g. speeding or driving under the influence. Speeding and/or DUI’s are examples of negligence because the driver is aware that this is dangerous and illegal behavior that can result in harm to others. To sum it up, reckless behavior is a choice – and not a good one!
