One Dead, Five Injured During Suspected Vallejo DUI Collision
On Wednesday, March 10, 2021, one person tragically passed away, and five more were injured during a suspected Vallejo DUI crash. The Vallejo Police Department (VPD) reported the collision and stated that it happened late at night, just off the bank of the Napa River. The Solano County Sheriff’s Department reported two days later that the decedent was Jazmin Addison, a 34-year-old Vallejo woman. Additionally, the incident remains under VPD investigation.
Crash Details
VPD reports that the collision happened at 11:20 p.m. at the intersection of Mare Island Way and Main Street just south of the downtown area of Vallejo. Specific details about the circumstances of this accident have not been reported, but police did indicate that the incident initially involved two vehicles, one with four occupants and another with two. After the two cars crashed into each other, one of them struck a third vehicle that was parked on the side of the road. The parked vehicle reportedly had only one occupant.
Response
After the accident happened, VPD rushed officers and medical officials to the site. At the wreck, responders discovered that Addison, who had been sitting in the front-passenger seat of her vehicle, was ejected through the windshield and sustained critical trauma. Tragically, she passed away on-site.
The remaining three occupants of Addison’s vehicle were all also injured. According to reports, one person was severely hurt and had to be flown by helicopter to a regional hospital. The other two suffered moderate and minor injuries, respectively, and were both also hospitalized. The occupants of the second vehicle were also both hospitalized with reportedly minor trauma. The solo occupant of the parked vehicle was not injured during the crash, according to police.
Investigation of Suspected Vallejo DUI
As police are investigating this crash, officers have stated that they believe driving under the influence and speeding may have been contributing factors. However, officers are still looking into possible causes and have asked for public help with their ongoing investigation. Anybody who has information about what happened or witnessed the crash is asked to contact the VPD Traffic Department at (707) 648-4011. Callers should ask to speak with Officer Kenneth Trimble.
