One Dead, Four Injured in Trinity Lake Collision
A Trinity Lake collision left four people with injuries and cost one more their life on Friday, September 6, 2019. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around sunset on a rural highway a short distance north of Weaverville. The collision only involved one vehicle and is reportedly still under investigation. Authorities have identified the decedent as Justin Seaman, a 20-year-old resident of the city of Eagle Point, Oregon. The four injured parties were not identified in reports.
Crash Details
According to CHP, the accident happened at around 8:00 p.m. Seaman had been driving on State Route 3 just south of the Guy Covington Drive intersection on the west side of Trinity Lake in a 2003 Ford. Seaman’s vehicle allegedly entered a curve in the road at an accelerated rate of speed. Police say that Seaman may have been unable to see the curve, causing his vehicle to travel off the road before striking a tree located on the roadway shoulder.
CHP sent emergency staff to the site of the accident directly after receiving a phone call reporting the incident. When response officials arrived on-site, they found that all five people involved in the crash had been injured. The four-vehicle passengers were placed on ambulances and transported to local hospitals for treatment of injuries that ranged from moderate to major in severity. Police indicated that three of the passengers were residents of Eureka while one was a resident of Arcata. The driver was tragically declared deceased at the collision scene.

As police are investigating this accident, CHP has asked that any witnesses get in touch in order to help investigators better understand what factors may have been involved. Callers should use the non-emergency phone line for Trinity River Area CHP by calling (530) 623-3832.
Calling an Attorney
Many people are devastated after learning that a person they love passed away or was seriously hurt during a car accident. During this time, it’s common to want to spend time processing your grief, and this can make it challenging to meet the demands of your daily life. However, parties that may be liable to pay for damages such as vehicle part manufacturers or governments responsible for maintaining roads are typically quick to start building a legal defense. This means that it is important to reach out to a lawyer who can represent you and your families interests as soon as you are able to.
To find out more about the process of recovering damages after a fatal accident before you reach out to a wrongful death lawyer, you can watch the video below regarding what types of compensation may be available to you and your family:
