One Hospitalized After Accident on Highway 108

Officials reported that one party was hospitalized after a motor vehicle accident on Highway 108 and Highway 120 near the Oakdale area on the morning of Wednesday, May 12, 2021. The traffic collision occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m., just east of Lancaster Road, between Knights Ferry and Oakdale.

Details of the Highway 108 Accident

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident involved a sedan and a Coca-Cola bottle truck. CHP traffic officials reported that the bottle truck and the sedan collided, causing the truck to separate from its rear wheels. The impact also resulted in the sedan overturning and coming to a rest on its side.

Medical personnel said the truck driver was reported to be okay while the sedan driver was transported via air ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Further details on the incident were not immediately available.

What to Do After a Motor Vehicle Collision

The steps you should take immediately after a crash to protect yourself and your loved ones include:

  • Check for injuries
  • Notify the police of the incident
  • Provide the responding officer with vehicle registration, proof of insurance, and driver’s license
  • Make sure the investigator prepares a written traffic incident report and get their badge number
  • Get the license plate number, driver’s license number, and insurance information of the other parties involved in the crash
  • Take pictures of the damage to your vehicle, other cars, road signage, and skid marks in the road if there are any
  • If there are any eyewitnesses, ask for their contact information in case they need to be reached out for a statement later
  • Report the accident to the insurance company representing the other driver and your own after the collision
  • Contact an experienced Oakdale personal injury attorney for legal assistance

What You Should Know About Personal Injury Cases and Auto Accidents

It is essential to conduct an independent investigation of a traffic collision immediately. This is necessary as crucial evidence may be lost or destroyed over time, such as skid marks on the road, property damage, traffic signage, eyewitnesses, and more. As time goes on, it becomes more challenging to collect such evidence, which is needed to prove a personal injury case.

The insurance company representing the at-fault party may also be taking quick action to find any detail of your case to use against you. There are also strict filing deadlines that must be met when it comes to insurance claims and personal injury cases. If the statute of limitations is not met for a car accident case, the court may dismiss it. If you are unsure about retaining an attorney, watch the video below to learn about how to choose a lawyer and the benefits of working with one.

Importance of Working with a Personal Injury Lawyer

After a serious motor vehicle collision, injured parties may wonder whether they can deal with the insurance company and negotiations process without the assistance of an experienced injury attorney. The truth is, you can, but it is not recommended. The reason is that insurers have trained claims adjusters that often use defense tactics to downplay the value of a bodily injury claim or outright deny it.

It is also essential to know that auto insurance carriers have teams of lawyers working to protect their bottom line, and you should too. At our personal injury law firm, our attorneys have decades of experience successfully obtaining fair compensation on behalf of injured parties and their families. Let our legal team handle all aspects of your cases while you focus on your recovery and your life.
